Varmints returns

Varmints is back!

Sadler's Wells co-production with East London Dance and Stratford Circus Arts Centre delighted young audiences when it first toured in 2013. It is now preparing to make a triumphant return to the UK tour scene in 2015.

Based on the book by Helen Ward with beautiful illustrations by Marc Craste, Varmints is a heart-warming tale about one creature's struggle to find peace in a world in danger of being lost forever.

Choreographer Wilkie Branson and director Sally Cookson got together this week to talk about the restaging ahead of rehearsals happening earlier this year.

Sadler's Wells wins touring award

We did it!

Sadler's Wells' producing and touring efforts were formally recognised yesterday at the UK Theatre Awards as they were jointly awarded the Renee Stepham award for Best Presentation of Touring Theatre 2014 alongside Shakespeare's Globe.

Executive Producer Suzanne Walker (far left) collected the accolade which was presented by Anita Dobson at the ceremony at London's Guild Hall on Sunday 19 October.

The award recognises the vast amount of touring the Sadler's Wells' productions have done to UK venues over the last year and the efforts they have made to reach out to new audiences and form new partnerships.

Well done everyone!

PUSH enjoys a standing ovation on return to London

Sadler's Wells' production PUSH enjoyed rapturous applause and a unanimous standing ovation on it's opening night at the London Coliseum yesterday. These performances are the last time PUSH will be performed in London which only added to the excitement of the audience.

Sylvie Guillem and Russell Maliphant first premiered the show in at Sadler's Wells in September 2005. Since then it has toured all over the world and has never failed to delight audiences wherever it has been seen.

One excited audience member managed to catch a selfie with Artistic Director Alistair Spalding and Miss Guillem after the show. OK, Sandra is one of our assistant producers but she was still very excited!

PUSH will next be performed in Taipei. If you can't make it to London or Taipei, you can always get the DVD from our shop!

Here's a clip to whet your appetite:

Russell Maliphant Company in Russia

Russell Maliphant Company performers Thomasin Gülgeç and Dickson Mbi have always wanted to be poster boys. Their dreams were fulfilled when they arrived in Russia last week and spotted these rather large images of themselves ahead of their sell out performances of Still Current.

Russell Maliphant and assistant producer Fanny Bannet were greeted at the airport by some traditional folk musicians...
